Plein-Air Landscape Drawing:

Spend time in nature investigating the landscape and learning to draw what you see. Learn the skills to understand perspective and proportion and how to create a dynamic composition. 


Plein-Air Landscape Painting:

Spend time in nature investigating the landscape and learning to draw what you see. Gain inspiration from the Japanese landscape painters and the Arts-and-Crafts movements of California and Europe. Learn the skills to understand perspective and proportion and how to create a dynamic composition. Learn how to mix watercolor to create a desired hue. Learn how to lay down washes, work wet-on-wet and layer colors.


Botanical Illustration:

Learn about the history of botanical illustration for scientific purposes. Gain an understanding of edible and medicinal uses of native plants and how the native people utilized them. Investigate the unique characteristics of various plants and flowers and the environments in which they choose to grow. Take time to study the structure of each individual leaf, flower, nut or cone.


Environmental Art/Nature Art:

Learn to create art from nature. Investigate the work of artists Andy Goldsworthy and Richard Long. Collect objects in nature such as leaves, stones, branches, flowers, feathers, bones, shells, etc. to create a sculpture, collage or mosaic. You can work individually or as a group; this is a wonderful and inspiring team-building activity.


Private Classes~ $200 per hour (up to 4 students) materials included

Group Classes~ $300 per hour (5-10 students) possible materials fee

Minimum $50 travel/set-up fee for Classes
